France recorded nearly 13,500 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, a number equivalent to that recorded the day before, according to data released Saturday by Public Health France.

The number of new positive cases is exactly 13,498.

The positivity rate (proportion of the number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) increased, for the first time in ten days, to 5.6% (against 5.4% the day before).

In addition, 3,853 Covid patients were hospitalized over the last seven days - or 227 more compared to the figures announced the day before -, including 593 in intensive care, said the public health service.

Over the past 24 hours, 470 people have been newly hospitalized and 73 people have entered intensive care or intensive care, across the country.

A "catching up of data"

Friday, Public Health France had announced 123 new deaths in 24 hours, a figure in sharp rise compared to the previous days, but this increase in mortality was linked to a "catching up of data" of a hospital in Essonne, had specified the organization.

Since the start of the epidemic, at least 31,274 Covid-related deaths have been recorded in France, or 26 more than the day before, including 20,714 in hospitals.
