While the department has just passed into a "red zone" for the spread of the virus, the prefecture of Indre-et-Loire decided to take new restrictive measures on Saturday.

From now on, certain festive gatherings such as aperitifs and student parties will be prohibited. 

Dancing evenings, standing pots and cocktails will be banned from Monday in Indre-et-Loire in order to fight the Covid-19 epidemic, the prefecture announced on Saturday in a press release.

"The classification of the department of Indre-et-Loire in an area of ​​active circulation of the so-called 'red' virus implies new health protection measures", justifies the prefecture.

From Monday will therefore be prohibited "dancing evenings and evenings organized by student communities", "refreshments, aperitifs, wines of honor, cocktails, snacks and 'drinks' with static consumption while standing", "refreshments in enclosed spaces without seated reception "as well as" shared consumption (boards, snacking, etc.) ". 

Increase in screening resources

"In addition, catering areas and temporary drinking places must comply with the protocol applicable to the catering sector (seating, table service, one meter between each table, no more than ten people)," the statement said.

The prefecture is also announcing an increase in the means of screening while the incidence rate reached 69 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants last week in the department.

Since the start of the epidemic, 95 people have died in the department after contracting the virus, according to figures from Public Health France.
