12 years imprisonment for an American doctor who performed an operation standing on a "scooter hoverboard"

An American dentist has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for endangering the lives of others, and committing fraud with insurance companies, after he appeared in a video recording treating a patient standing on a "hoverboard" electric scooter.

The video shows dentist Sit Lockhart standing on a "hoverboard", a device that allows automatic movement by standing on a moving platform on two wheels, extracting a tooth from the mouth of a woman who appears under the influence of anesthesia, then moving into the room on his board, raising his hand to celebrate.

But this "achievement" did not satisfy the judicial authorities in the state of Alaska, which finally sentenced him to 20 years in prison, including eight years with a suspended sentence, and a fine of $ 2.2 million.

A statement issued by the local judicial authorities quoted the judge handling the case as saying that the video recording "which Lockhart was famous for in particular is not the most dangerous aspect of this case."

The 35-year-old dentist was convicted of 46 counts, including illegal practice of the dental profession, embezzlement of funds and forgery.

The judiciary in Alaska stated that Lockhart "nearly eliminated many patients by performing thousands of anesthesia operations without (the patients") consent and did not receive adequate training "for this purpose.

The dentist expressed his regret before the verdict was pronounced against him.

"I cannot determine precisely when I started to deviate from the correct path," he said in statements reported by local media.

"It was in my ability and duty to show more discipline," he added.
