In 1978, Taosi Village, Xiangfen County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province discovered the Taosi site dating back 4300-3800. A large number of cultural relics unearthed from the site demonstrated that Taosi society has completely entered the civilized era.

The Shimao site is a prehistoric city site in the Yellow River basin around 4000 years ago. The excavation of mysterious stone carvings and other cultural relics proves that the ancient city of Shimao has a highly developed civilized social structure and rich cultural connotations. It is another example of early Chinese civilization.

Cui Yuezhong introduced that the modeling characteristics of the double-sided human face stone sculpture and the angled human face stone sculpture show the integration and exchange of multiculturalism at that time.

More than 10 large pottery eagles were discovered on the imperial city platform with the nature of Miyagi, reflecting the importance of pottery eagles as a totem of belief in Shimao culture.

In addition, the excavations of bronze knives, bronze arrowheads, and bronze cones also reflect that Shimao City at that time has entered the age of civilization.

Zhang Huiguo believes that the Taosi site and the Shimao site are both related and different. One is a rammed earth city (taosi) and the other is a stone city, and the fortification style is different.

However, there are still some commonalities in the ritual and music system. They are all presented through the combination of pottery and jade. This can actually see the embryonic form of China's early cities, and the country has gradually expanded from cities.

The exhibition will last until December 20th for more than 3 months.

In addition, Shanxi Museum will also launch a series of online and offline activities such as lectures, salons and seminars around the exhibition.
