The Otsu District Public Prosecutor's Office mistakenly mistaken a mother who had been charged with injury for injuring her baby's arm after birth with another person's tooth pattern when assessing the tooth pattern at the investigation stage. I canceled the indictment and apologized for it.

Last November, the Otsu District Public Prosecutors Office charged a 21-year-old mother with an injury injuring her newborn baby's arm in Otsu City.

According to the prosecution, it was based on the fact that the police investigation stage revealed that the bite-like marks left on the baby's arm almost matched the mother's tooth pattern.

However, according to lawyers, the mother denied the charges in the trial and scrutinized the evidence submitted by the prosecution, which found something unnatural in the tooth pattern documents.

For this reason, as a result of reconfirmation by the prosecution and the police, it was found that when the police collected the tooth pattern of the mother and prepared the documents, it was mistaken for the tooth pattern of another person.

The prosecution admitted that the mother's decision to commit the crime was wrong and canceled the indictment on the 18th.

The prosecution and police apologized on the 17th for the mother being arrested by the police and detained for 23 days.

Mayumi Yamagami, Deputy Prosecutor of the Otsu District Public Prosecutors Office, commented, "I am deeply apologized for not noticing the error in the important evidence. I will reflect on it and try not to repeat the same thing."

Mother's lawyer "not allowed"

In response to the cancellation of the indictment, Tomoyuki Uehira, who was a lawyer for his mother, told reporters, "My mother is still not the police when people come to my house or receive a phone call. I'm scared. "

He then criticized the police and the prosecution's response, saying, "If you take proper steps and scrutinize the evidence, this did not happen. I think it is unacceptable."
