The Covid-19 got the better of the 21st edition of the Neighbors Day on the Côte d'Azur.

The demonstration will not take place in the Alpes-Maritimes department: the prefecture published this Friday morning a decree prohibiting "demonstrations organized on the public highway or public space" from 5 pm this Friday and until 5 hours Saturday morning throughout the department.

The prefect considers the epidemic situation in the Alpes-Maritimes, but also "the nature" of the Fête des Neighbors, "which consists of sharing a friendly meal" during which "physical distancing measures cannot be strictly guaranteed. ".

Other measures announced in the morning

This decision comes the day after the press conference given by Olivier Véran.

The Minister of Health had announced that the government asked the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes to present "by Saturday" new local measures "to stop the circulation of the virus and limit its impact on the health system".

The prefect of Alpes-Maritimes and the mayor of Nice are expected to hold a press conference to announce new measures this Friday at 11 a.m.
