“I tested positive for Covid-19 tonight.

I immediately put myself in isolation at my home in accordance with the health rules issued by the government.

The Minister of the Economy, Finance and Recovery Bruno Le Maire announced this Friday evening that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

“I have no symptoms.

I will remain in solitary confinement for seven days.

I continue to exercise my functions, ”detailed Bruno Le Maire, 51, via his authenticated Twitter account.

Bruno Le Maire is not the first member of the French government to test positive for the virus.

On March 9, the former Minister of Culture and current Minister of Foreign Trade Franck Riester had been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus.

The Secretaries of State for the Ecological Transition at the time, Brune Poirson and Emmanuelle Wargon, had also been in the following two weeks.

At the beginning of September, Prime Minister Jean Castex was placed in isolation in Matignon, due to his contact with the director of the Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme, himself infected.

However, he put an end to his isolation last week, after the negative result of a second Covid-19 test.
