Banksy has trademarked one of its most well-known motives, but now the protection is denied by the EU Intellectual Property Office.

The current motif "Flower bomber" was first erected on a wall in Jerusalem in 2005 and depicts a masked man throwing a bouquet of flowers.

Banksy trademarked the work in 2014, something that a British company that makes greeting cards has challenged.

Now the EU intellectual property authority EUIPO has given the greeting card company the right, reports the BBC.

According to the authority, the owner of the brand must sell goods adorned with the current motif, which Banksy is not considered to have done.
