On the night of Monday, September 21, the annual Emmy Gala will be broadcast live from Los Angeles.

This time in digital form without an audience.

During the gala, the heaviest prizes are awarded: the actor categories, best drama, comedy, direction and script and more.

Nominated for "The mandalorian"

HBO's series "Watchmen" has the most chances of winning with a total of 26 nominations in a number of different categories, followed by Netflix "Ozark" and HBO's "Succession" which has 18 nominations each.

Netflix has been nominated for a total of 160 awards, compared to HBO's 106.

The prizes in the technical categories are awarded during five separate evenings during the week leading up to the big gala.

On Saturday 19 September, Swedish Ludwig Göransson has a chance to win original music for the "Star Wars" series "The Mandalorian".

Near sludge

Ludwig Göransson has previously won an Oscar for the music for the superhero film "Black Panther" and three Grammy Awards, two of them for his work as a producer for Childish Gambino's "This is America".

If Göransson wins an Emmy, he is just a Tony statuette away from taking home a so-called "EGOT" (an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony), also called "the grand slam of show business".

The Tony Gala can be seen as the American theater industry's response to the Oscars.

Among other things, 140 live streams will be used.
