What do the words say about you?

On Facebook or Instagram, I send “emoji” to my “friends” whom I “

follow

”, I call for “benevolence” and “at the same time”, I react to “

buzz

” and “fake news” »... And with my" selfies ", I especially expect" likes "that will do my ego good.

Words of everyday life, words of "good feelings" sometimes in fake, language tics, the words I use reveal me.

This is the subject of the book by Julie Neveux, lecturer in linguistics at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and playwright.

She publishes

I speak as I am, what the words say about us.

Linguistic survey on the 21st century

(Grasset, 20 euros).

In this humorous book-diary, the roots and chic and shocking undersides of a number of words, such as “PLS”, “bashing”, “collapsology” or even the “

likes

 ” of social networks

, are revealed

.

Julie Neveux is the guest of this episode of

Minute Papillon!

, the

news podcast

.

She talks to us about the words, the feelings that I post online, the words “care bears” but which do not reflect what I really feel.

Where do these “good feelings” that I post everywhere come from?
