The Mu Us Sandy Land is one of the four major sandy land in China. It spans the southern part of Ordos City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the northern part of Yulin City in Shaanxi Province. It covers an area of 42,200 square kilometers and was once a barren land.

She once sold all of her family's property in exchange for more than 600 saplings to plant in the sand, just to stop the yellow sand that was constantly invading her home.
Over the past 30 years, Yin Yuzhen has planted millions of plants such as willow and pine and cypress in the Mu Us sandy land, turning more than 60,000 mu of barren sand into an oasis of life.
