Call for donations with penguins feathered capsules Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium September 18, 5:24

The Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium is calling on visitors to donate using a capsule toy vending machine with penguins wings to make up for the income that has fallen due to the impact of the new coronavirus.

The vending machine is placed near the entrance of the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, and when you insert a coin worth 500 yen and turn the handle, the capsule comes out.

The capsule contains the wings of the "Emperor Penguin," which is said to have the longest dive time among the penguins, and has two "long breath" and "long life" to coincide with Respect for the Aged Day on the 21st of this month. It means that it has a meaning.

At the aquarium, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the number of visitors last month decreased to about 30% of the average year and the income dropped sharply, and the money donated from the vending machine costs about 80 million yen a year for food at the aquarium. It means that it will be used for a part of the generation.

The people who donated said, "You can easily donate with a vending machine. I'm glad that the feathers inside are precious," or "I want to give it to my grandparents with the desire to live longer."

Ryota Shiga, Chief of the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium Sales and Public Relations Division, said, "Penguin feathers were collected one by one by the zookeepers during the re-growth period. We would appreciate it if you could donate while having fun."

The vending machine will be open until the 22nd of this month.
