The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) urged the International Federation (FIFA) to lift the suspension of its electoral process, so that it resumes quickly.

In a letter dated September 14, the FIF underlines the delay taken because of the FIFA decision which prevents the election of the new Ivorian football boss.

Within the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), we are seriously starting to get impatient, judging by a letter sent to the International Football Federation (FIFA) dated September 14, 2020. Since August 27, the electoral process that should lead to the appointment of a new president of the FIF is in fact suspended by FIFA.

On September 1st, the latter also decided to quickly conduct hearings within the FIF in order to have an overview of a process which has been controversial for several weeks and which has notably led to the non- validation of the candidacy of ex-superstar Didier Drogba.

"

This blockage strongly penalizes all Ivorian football

"

However, according to the FIF, “

to date, September 14, the said hearings have not yet started and the electoral process therefore unfortunately remains suspended

 ”.

The executive director of the Ivorian Federation, Sam Etiassé, writes that “

the FIF suggests the lifting of the suspension decided by FIFA so that the electoral process can continue

 ”.

He indeed ensures "

that this blockage strongly penalizes all Ivorian football

", the absence of a new president preventing to advance various files.

A problem that Sam Etiassé exposes to the microphone of our correspondent, Emmanuel Koffi: "

The concern is that we first have the resumption of the 2020-2021 National Championship and that on October 17 we have the Houphouët-Boigny Supercup which launches the new season.

Then, apart from the resumption of the Championship, we have the preparation of the qualifying matches for CAN 2021 and for the World Cup 2022. And, after that, there are also constraints which are linked to the political calendar in Côte ivory.

October 31, 2020 is the date of the presidential election and the FIF Executive Committee wanted to ensure that the two constraints cannot overlap.

 "

The election of Sidy Diallo's successor to the FIF was scheduled for September 5.

But it was postponed sine die following the intervention of FIFA and an appeal filed by one of the four candidates.
