It was hot Monday on French territory.
Very hot even for a month of September.
Mercury even broke records in several French cities, Météo-France announced in a press release.
“It could be the hottest afternoon ever in September since the start of the measurements in 1947,” says the organization.
The South-West was particularly affected by this heat episode: in Orthez (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), the mercury was 37.9 ° C, a record compared to the 37.5 ° C measured in 2016. In Sabers, in the Landes, it was 37.1 ° C (against 36.3 ° C in 2016).
Angers (Maine-et-Loire) and Bourges (Cher) also beat their personal best, with respectively 35.7 ° C (against 34.5 ° C in 1953) and 35.6 ° C (against 35.1 ° C in 1961).

It's also heating up in the Paris region
In Orleans (Loiret), it was 34.2 ° C and 34.8 ° C in Troyes (Aube), beating the old record of 33.7 ° C.
In Saint-Dizier (Haute-Marne), the thermometer climbed to 34.9 ° C, unprecedented in September.
In Sarthe, in Le Mans, 34.7 ° C were recorded.
In Nevers (Nièvre), the temperature reached 35.3 ° C (the old record was 35.1 ° C in 1947).
Ditto in Tours (Indre-et-Loire), which broke its personal best: 35.1 ° C, against 34.5 ° C in 2005.
In the Paris region, Orly (Val-de-Marne) broke its record with 33.5 ° C, beating the old record of 33 ° C.
In Seine-et-Marne at Melun, 34.2 ° C were recorded: the previous record for this station was 33.2 ° C.
Finally, Paris recorded its ten-day record, adds Météo-France, with 33.4 ° C.
Temperatures should remain high for the rest of the week and well above normal for the season, continues Météo-France.
