The French are overwhelmingly in favor of reinstating the death penalty and are calling for "a real leader to restore order", according to an Ipsos / Sopra Steria study, entitled "French Fractures", carried out for the daily Le Monde, the Jean Foundation. Jaurès, and the Institut Montaigne and published yesterday.
But the subject remains "very divisive politically", according to the study, since only supporters RN (85%) and LR (71%, +23 points) mostly agree with this statement, approved by a minority (39%) in the other parties.
Explanations from Jérémie Peltier, director of studies at the Jean-Jaurès Foundation.
