Dominic Thiem wins US Open, his first Grand Slam title
Austria's Dominic Thiem, 3rd in the world, won the US Open on Sunday.
In Flushing Meadows, to finally lift a grand slam cup, the 27-year-old had to return a final very badly started against the German Alexander Zverev (7th world) 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6- 3, 7-6 (8/6).
This success has a historic flavor as Thiem is the first to win a US Open final after being led in two sets to nothing.
