How do you deal with your stuttering child?

The German Association of Pediatricians and Adolescents warned parents against reprimanding the stuttering child, stuttering, threatening him, constantly correcting words and sentences for him or treating him roughly in general, so that the problem does not worsen and the condition deteriorates.

The association added that the child, who suffers from stuttering, needs special treatment from the parents;

Parents should be calm and patient, and treat the child with tenderness and compassion.

For this purpose, the parents should listen to the child well, taking into account giving him a full opportunity to complete his speech, and to maintain eye contact while talking to him.

In this way, the child feels confident and safe, and then the stuttering goes away on its own after a period of time.

Treating him roughly will exacerbate the problem, and the child will then develop aggressive and withdrawn behavior.

The association added that stuttering often affects children between two and five years of age, and it usually resolves on its own, but it needs treatment for speech and language diseases if it continues for more than six months.
