In accordance with the execution order issued by the Supreme People's Court, the Kunming Intermediate People's Court of Yunnan Province executed the criminal Sun Xiaoguo on February 20.
Jiang Biao is a police officer in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kunming Public Security Bureau.
Over the past 33 years in criminal investigation, he has participated in the investigation of typical cases such as the Mekong Massacre, the Kunming Railway Station violent terror case, and the Sun Xiaoguo case.

The "veteran" Sun Xiaoguo ran into an experienced policeman
One day in mid-July 2018, Sun Xiaoguo wanted to meet with a flight attendant of an airline, but the flight attendant had already attended another party at an entertainment venue. Due to a dispute, the flight attendant was slapped in the face by a man.
After hearing the news, Sun Xiaoguo "heroes to save the United States", took people to a KTV in Kunming, kicked the man's bladder, and was later identified as serious injuries. Sun Xiaoguo was suspected of intentional injury.
At that time, the investigating police found that the suspect in the case was Sun Xiaoguo, a criminal who had been sentenced to death 20 years ago, and reported to the Yunnan Provincial Political and Legal Committee level by level.
At that time, due to arrangements made by the Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department, Jiang Biao was handling a case of cracking down on the kidnapping of Chinese citizens at the border between China and Myanmar in Dehong Prefecture.
After the Sun Xiaoguo case, Jiang Biao was urgently called back to the task force to report.
"At that time, we were also very puzzled and surprised. We had the impression that the death penalty had been executed, why haven't we died?" Jiang Biao recalled that the Sun Xiaoguo case 20 years ago caused a lot of waves in the Kunming police circle.
Will there be pressure to take over the case this time?
Faced with such a problem, Jiang Biao said: "Don't go wrong with people, or your conscience won't get through. We must uphold fairness and justice. If we have to talk about pressure, it is how to make this case an iron case."
Jiang Biao felt that many of the evidence clues in the Sun Xiaoguo case were 20 years ago, which is a bit like archaeology.
However, it is necessary to trace back the past clearly, and Sun Xiaoguo himself has a sense of prevention, which makes it very difficult to investigate.
In Jiang Biao's impression, Sun Xiaoguo, who was involved in the case in 2018, still has the same mentality as 20 years ago. "He thinks his mother can handle everything. He is still domineering and cynical in the detention center, and doesn't put anyone in his eyes."
Jiang Biao remembered that when he saw Sun Xiaoguo in the detention center for the first time, the other party looked at him carefully and wanted to see who he was. After informing him of the situation, Sun Xiaoguo carefully looked through his relevant ID documents and then slung on a chair. He looked disdainful, or kept silent or questioned, and was full of confrontational awareness. “He knew some legal knowledge himself and had a lot of contact with the police, so he seemed very experienced in dealing with the police of our task force.”

Finding the shadow of crime from the history of growth
In order to restore the facts and make Sun Xiaoguo speak, Jiang Biao did his homework.
He checked relevant information, sorted out Sun Xiaoguo's life trajectory, studied his personality and growth and living environment, "Because I am going to deal with him, I am more concerned about his life growth history."
"Mother's spoiling ruined him, causing him to be very selfish." This made Jiang Biao quite emotional.
Jiang Biao, who traced the growth history of Sun Xiaoguo, found that Sun Xiaoguo's early parents divorced and lacked family care, just like Sun Xiaoguo wrote in her diary: "Parents quarreled and fight, feeling that they were surrounded by violence, and the entire social life was full of violence."
Jiang Biao said that because of his family, Sun Xiaoguo became a gangster from a young age, leading people younger than him to roam in entertainment venues and video game rooms. He gained a position of self-satisfaction and vanity in this group. Sun Xiaoguo was in her second year of junior high. When the social personality was formed, the impact of domestic violence accompanied him throughout his life, and it was manifested in subsequent crime cases.
Jiang Biao, for example, the victim was only fifteen or sixteen years old. Sun Xiaoguo wanted to go wrong and was rejected by the little girl. He arranged for his men to beat the little girl. He stood aside and watched his men beat the little girl with satisfaction. Fight until you can't recognize it.
After being released from prison that year, Sun Xiaoguo could still find this brutal shadow on her body.

At the same time, Jiang Biao discovered that Sun Xiaoguo is a person with changeable personality and no specific hobbies.
He gave an example. For a period of time, Sun Xiaoguo liked cars and bought a Ferrari. He almost wanted to spend all of his money on the car for modification. But after a while, he didn’t like it anymore. He gave the car to his little brother. He didn't care if the car crashed and killed him; for a while, Sun Xiaoguo wanted to engage in real estate, and found that the real estate industry was not easy to give up; he later wanted to get involved in mining, "Anyway, there is no specific favorite, and his hobbies are very wide."
Jiang Biao participated in the investigation of the Mekong tragedy, and the principal criminal Nuo Kang and others were also executed in Kunming.
One is a warlord drug lord, and the other is a doting darling. Jiang Biao feels that although the two are not comparable, "the two are similar in violence."
Break through the last psychological line of defense
Jiang Biao said that even the most heinous people have weaknesses, and Sun Xiaoguo's pain point is his daughter.
Jiang Biao introduced that during the investigation, they found that Sun Xiaoguo usually lived with his wife and daughter, and he kept hiding from his family about having a woman outside. “When he was in the detention center, he only had a sense of responsibility and guilt towards his family.”
He chatted with Sun Xiaoguo many times and found that Sun Xiaoguo spoiled her daughter very much, and she was domineering outside, but Sun Xiaoguo always showed the weakest and most loving side when facing her daughter. "The moon in the sky can't be picked, otherwise his daughter If you want the moon, you will pick it up."
Based on this, Jiang Biao asked Sun Xiaoguo: “Let’s think about it, if someone treats your daughter like this, how would you feel?” Later in court, Sun Xiaoguo answered this question: “My police officer once asked me if someone To my daughter (what will happen), I know I was wrong, and I apologize to the victim."
The victims of Sun Xiaoguo's case are not doing well.
When Jiang Biao found them, the victim and his family dared not face him, did not dare to speak to him, and could not believe that the police could still send Sun Xiaoguo back to prison. "I saw her (victim) trembling all over. I dare not ask for anything from us. After so many years, thinking about the hurt and the fear and worry she endured, I feel sad." Jiang Biao's eyes were red when he spoke.
Jiang Biao, who graduated from the police academy in 1985 and majored in Chinese, admits that he has not studied psychology systematically.
However, he will accurately grasp the psychological ups and downs of the suspect or the victim, "This is all accumulation, and you will know how to face all kinds of criminal suspects if you do more."
He referred to this relationship with the suspects simply as "I want to deal with them."
Jiang Biao felt that the process of "communicating" was actually a process of gaining mutual trust. At first, I encouraged Sun Xiaoguo to restore the facts. , He still has grievances."
After more than 30 years of criminal investigation work, Jiang Biao feels that solving large cases may not necessarily solve small cases, but solving too many small cases can accumulate experience for the detection of large cases. The Organized Crime Investigation Brigade of the Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Kunming Public Security Bureau where Jiang Biao is located has successively investigated typical cases such as the Kunming Railway Station violent terror case and the Mekong River case in recent years, and Jiang Biao has participated in it.
