First trips of the new TER LIOs to Toulouse in July 2019 -

Grimault Emmanuel - Région Occitanie

  • This summer, thanks to euro banknotes, TER traffic increased by 13% in Occitania.

  • From now on, those under 26 no longer have to have a paying card to benefit from reduced rates at -50% during the week.

  • A new fare offer has been developed for companies to encourage them to use the train when traveling.

This summer they refueled.

While all over France TER traffic fell, registering a drop of 24%, in Occitanie it was boosted by the sale of one euro tickets, climbing by 13% compared to July and August 2019. In total, 1.17 million tickets were sold at these very low prices, to the point that some lines were saturated, especially to tourist areas.

Offers still available on weekends until the end of September, but which will be supplemented by others this fall.

“The one-euro offer has shown a leverage effect, especially among those under 26 who have been more than 730,000 to take the IO trains this summer.

We must capitalize on this success, ”said Jean-Luc Gibelin, vice-president of mobility and transport infrastructure at the regional council.

This success is also possible thanks to a TER service up 11% in Occitania and which has benefited from an unequaled regularity rate since 2012, with 92% of trains per hour.

Beyond the public, the region and the SNCF also want to work on home-work journeys and to win back employees, many of whom now spend part of their time teleworking.

“The economic and health crises have brought down our number of subscribers, we have 10,000 and we have lost 2,000 who have suspended or canceled their subscription.

They are the ones that we must seek out and win back ”, assures Philippe Bru, SNCF Voyageurs Occitanie regional director.

Offers for companies

To achieve this, a 50% discount on annual and monthly subscriptions is implemented for the month of September.

For young people, there is no need to pay for the FréquentiO card at 15 euros to benefit from a 50% reduction on their journeys.

From now on, the simple fact of presenting proof of identity showing that one is under 26 years old is sufficient.

The LibertiO card at 20 euros per year and which allowed employees to benefit from 25% on all journeys sees these reductions increased to 30% during the week.

The other novelty concerns employees of the same company.

Two formulas are now available to them.

For those whose employees circulate throughout the region within the framework of their work, a card for a fixed amount of 195 euros per month which covers all the trips of the employees of the company, this one not being nominative.

When the journeys are always the same, the average season ticket drops to 64 euros, without an additional ticket.
