[Explanation] Due to historical reasons, foreign faces are not uncommon in the Hong Kong Police Force.

In 1997, when Hong Kong returned, some foreign police chose to stay and continue to serve Hong Kong.

Wang Weinuo, currently the deputy commander of the Marine Police of the Hong Kong Police Force, is one of dozens of foreign police officers.

I joined the Hong Kong Police Force in October 1994.

I was lucky enough to be accepted in the year when the overseas recruitment was about to end.

I joined the police force because my father is a policeman, and I have watched him do many challenging and exciting things since I was a child.

[Explanation] Wang Weinuo's family has a close relationship with Hong Kong for nearly a hundred years.

At the beginning of the last century, his grandfather came to Hong Kong from England to engage in trading activities.

Wang Weinuo was born in Hong Kong, joined the Hong Kong Police Force for 26 years, and has lived in Hong Kong for 48 years. He has long regarded Hong Kong as his home.

I don't think there is any difference between overseas police officers and local police officers, because they have one thing in common, that is, Hong Kong is their home.

Their goal is to maintain the safety of Hong Kong and Hong Kong citizens.

[Commentary] Wang Weinuo said that he loves Hong Kong deeply, and it makes him feel extremely safe here. Until June last year, the raging street violence along with the "regulations" smashed the peaceful life of every Hong Kong person.

In fact, I was shocked when I saw the police officer being thrown by petrol bombs.

But I was also impressed by the restraint shown by these police officers.

Their response was very brave and very restrained.

I think if you look at other overseas jurisdictions, you will see their response to violent remarks against police officers. I think you will find that the Hong Kong Police Force is very restrained.

[Commentary] Wang Weinuo recalled that it was a very difficult period.

His duty at the time was to provide logistical support and urge more than 400 marine police to be dispatched to land to assist in the work.

Witnessing the various performances of the Hong Kong police in the entire incident, he sincerely lamented that the Hong Kong police are still the best in Asia.

In the 1980s, this police force was dubbed the "Best in Asia", and the situation remains the same today.

I think they are role models for everyone, and they are still the best in Asia.

[Explanation] Wang Weinuo said with satisfaction that Hong Kong society is gradually returning to normal after the implementation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China on the Maintenance of National Security Law.

He told reporters that he would retire in more than 6 years, and in the coming time, he will continue to do his duty and serve his beloved police force and citizens.

Hong Kong has faced many challenges over the years.

But whenever it faces a challenge or encounters a setback, it will stand up again and move on.

I hope this is what will happen now.
