The 1960s is the youth of mankind not only because student uprisings took place in Paris, neorealism flourished in Italy, manned space exploration in the Soviet Union, and 32 colonial countries gained independence in Africa.

The 60s is the youth of mankind also because the Hayes Code was abolished in Hollywood, thanks to which all the magnificent films of the last 60 years appeared.

The Hayes Code was adopted in the 1930s by the Film Producers and Distributors Association, named after Republican William Hayes, and was needed in order to very tightly regulate the content of American cinema.

According to this code, artists were not supposed to utter indecent words on the screen.

Moreover, words such as "Lord" or "Oh my God" were referred to as curses, if they were not used during prayer.

Nudity was not allowed even in the form of a silhouette or a shadow; there could be no talk of sex in the movies either.

As soon as the code was weakened by public opinion and the natural course of life in general, such masterpieces as "Some Like It Hot", "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "Psycho" appeared.

It would seem that a lesson has been learned and should be learned - the fewer restrictions, the better the cinema.

But time has passed, and the world is striving to return to the 30s.

The Academy of Sciences has set fairly tight limits on motion pictures that will be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category.

Now one of the main characters must necessarily belong to a poorly represented racial or ethnic group.

He must be black or Asian.

One of the plot lines of the film should be directly related to the problems of people with disabilities, representatives of the LGBT community or the problems of national minorities.

At least two of the key creative positions in the film crew should be occupied by women, LGBT people or people with disabilities.

At least one creative position must be occupied by a representative of a national minority.

In other words, the American Film Academy is engaged in racism, sexism and other discrimination based on social segregation.

Now, of course, it makes sense to make up the film crews exclusively from minorities, among which, according to the academy, for some reason, women who are not a minority were included.

There are more women in the United States than men, but here the term was found - underrepresented.

This means that it is necessary to recruit all the poorly represented to the film crew, because this increases the chance of receiving the main film award and improves the prospects for distribution.

The main criterion is not talent, but poor representation.

The less well represented you are, the more chances you have to succeed in cinematography.

There is, of course, such an aspect - the Oscar award, although it is the main one, is not so strictly oriented.

For example, the main problem is now considered not who received the Nobel Prize - in a year no one will remember the laureates.

The main problem is that few black scientists receive the Nobel Prize.

The same goes for the World Chess Championships - there are unforgivably few black champions.

And who remembers, say, that in 2018 the Oscar in the Best Film nomination was awarded to the film The Shape of Water?

The entire history of culture teaches us, for example, that thanks to love, kindness and a scarlet flower, a monster can turn into a wonderful person capable of higher mental activity.

In the film "The Shape of Water" everything is exactly the opposite - a woman, due to a lack of love, is forced to connect her life with an amphibian creature and become like her herself.

This film was somewhat ahead of its time, but it would fit perfectly into the new standards of the film academy.

The other side of the adopted rules may be that European cinema will receive some advantages.

He will definitely look freer and more relaxed.

Just think - they will be accepted for the role not by skin color, but by the results of screen tests and by the decision of the director.

In the world of American cinema, this will become an exotic luxury.

And finally, the new rules, which seem rather ridiculous to us, but reflect the internal problems in the United States, make us think again about what freedom is.

Is there the freedom not to write a major or minor role in a black script?

Is there a freedom not to hire a blind cameraman and a deaf sound engineer?

Or no freedom to the enemies of freedom?

No tolerance for the enemies of tolerance?

How to make a film about medieval France following these rules?

Let us assume that there is a plot about the Maid of Orleans.

Already good luck.

According to the English spelling of the name Jeanne d'Arc may well be black.

After his expulsion from Paris, Dauphin Karl fled to the south of France to graduate from the faculty of gender studies and, preaching the values of the LGBT, together with the Maid of Orleans under the appropriate flag, rides to smash the white and privileged Henry V. On the way, every warrior must write tweets, dye his hair in a scale from blue to raspberry and drink caffeinated latte with almond milk.

In the finale, Jeanne d'Arc convinces the entire white population of France - there is not much of him there due to the peculiarities of the new casting - to kneel in front of her, after which he spontaneously burns out and travels around Europe in a platinum coffin.

Although I would have watched such a movie.

The only problem is that by 2025, when the new rules come into effect, there will be some other restrictions - and it will be easier not to shoot a movie at all.
