The association of HRDs of large communities calls on the government on Thursday to suspend again "the waiting day" for public officials, temporarily removed during confinement and then reinstated since July 11 with the end of the state of health emergency.

In a press release, the association justifies its request by the need "not to unnecessarily perpetuate an unequal system and a source of negative side effects".

"A measure experienced by some as vexatious"

The waiting day results in a loss of remuneration and "public officials on sick leave for reasons related to Covid should not be penalized by a measure experienced by some as annoying", believe the HRDs of large communities.

According to them, the health context "makes a large number of agents vulnerable, particularly local agents, who work in close contact with users of public services".

The "vagueness maintained by government texts" on "the administrative position in which the so-called + contacts + agents must be placed" generates "inequalities" but also, sometimes, "circumvention strategies", they argue.

No distinction between sick leave and sick leave

Thus, “those who cannot telework can sometimes be placed on sick leave when in reality they are only on sick leave, not because they present a pathology or an illness but for reasons of prevention.

However, the waiting day applies equally to sick leave and work stoppage ”.

Some agents may also “not report when they are affected with mild symptoms or if they are asymptomatic, or when they are + contact +.

They then continue to come to work at the risk of endangering their colleagues, ”says the association.
