A newcomer to the podcast jungle.

“Audio Now”, a platform born from the alliance of the M6 group (RTL) and the press group Prisma, already with around one hundred content thanks to partnerships with ten other media, is launched on Thursday.

This free application is intended to be intuitive with three possibilities for searching for content: by theme (news, celebrities, various facts ...), by moments of life (work, with children, with friends, before sleeping ...) and by duration of listen.

"A reference for all French people"

It offers native podcasts (that is to say, designed and created to be broadcast directly online) from the catalog of the two groups, but also those of the “pure-players” in the sector, Binge Audio and Louie Media, as well as those of

20 Minutes

, Bababam, Bayard, of the Figaro group, of

L'Équipe

, of the Les Echos-Le Parisien group, of the Nouvelles Editions Indépendantes (Radio Nova, les Inrockuptibles, ChEEk Magazine), of NextRadioTV (BFM, RMC) and of Wondery.

"The quality and diversity of the podcasts available as well as the ease of use of the application will allow us to quickly make it a reference for all French people", hopes Valery Gerfaud, deputy general manager of digital at M6, quoted in a communicated.

"We hope to bring together a large number of publishers at the same time to enrich the application and have an ever wider editorial offer," he continues.

An economic model still in its infancy

M6 and Prisma indicate that they will be launching "many new podcasts premiering on Audio Now, including Neon's" Useless Knowledge "and RTL's" The Impostors ".

They also ensure that Audio Now will allow publishers "to control the circulation of their content and to know their audience better", the sinews of war in the podcast sector with an economic model still in its infancy.

“If the future passes through the voice, the whole challenge of the development of digital audio goes through the" discoverability "of quality podcasts (…) I am delighted with this launch in collaboration with the M6 group and wish us the same welcome to the German market ”, underlines Gwendoline Michaelis, executive director of the premium division of Prisma media.
