A young Russian arrested for stealing money to help the poor

Police officers in the town of Pre Argonsk in Russia's Zabaikkale region, eastern Siberia, detained a 23-year-old man who stole a store safe of 800,000 rubles (less than 10,000 euros), then distributed it to the poor.

According to a statement published by the Police Department in the region, unknown persons broke into a store and stole 3 laptops and a safe containing 800 thousand rubles, and then police officers detained the 23-year-old man from Novotsuruokhaytoy village in the Berri Argon region.

It turned out that the man had previously distributed some of the stolen money to the poor as charity, and then put other money in the fund.

The police confiscated what remained of his money in the amount of 57,000 rubles.

The man admitted to the theft and said he entered the store through a broken window in a building attached to the store. The statement stated that the man had not previously been charged with any crimes.
