The Mediapro group has concluded a distribution agreement for its Telefoot channel with Orange, the French operator announced on Wednesday in a press release.

This agreement comes just before the start of the third day of Ligue 1 scheduled for the weekend, which will be marked in particular by the PSG-Marseille poster.

After the telecommunications operators SFR, Bouygues Telecom, and Free, the Mediapro group has concluded a distribution agreement for its Telefoot channel with Orange, the French operator announced Wednesday in a press release.

"We are working on it and we are putting the maximum energy into having this agreement because we want to be able to allow our subscribers who love football to see the 'clasico'", Stéphane Richard, CEO of Orange, said on Tuesday after have announced "very advanced discussions" with Mediapro.

Téléfoot targets 3.5 million subscribers

First fixed operator in France with 11.8 million subscribers to its home Internet offers, Orange will allow Téléfoot to "greatly expand" its accessibility, the operator said in his press release.

Starting from zero, the new main broadcaster of the French football championship has signed in quick succession a series of agreements since the end of July with the other operators SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free, as well as a partnership with Netflix.

These partnerships with all French operators are essential for the Sino-Spanish group to succeed in its gamble of eventually reaching 3.5 million subscribers to Téléfoot, and making a return on the colossal sums it has paid out (over 800 million euros per year) to become the main broadcaster of L1.
