Qian Dakang pointed out that academic freedom and institutional autonomy are clearly protected by Hong Kong’s Basic Law; however, all freedoms are subject to certain restrictions, such as being regulated by laws and basic human ethics.

He also gave an example that the university will never tolerate any hate speech and slander.

Qian Dakang said that HKBU provides students with a free learning environment, and said: "Freedom and responsibility coexist at the same time. You can't just choose between the two. You must also respect other people's equal rights."

Qian Dakang also mentioned that online teaching has encountered many challenges, but HKBU has devised novel solutions.

These programs not only replace traditional face-to-face teaching, but also introduce innovative methods that can take teaching and learning to a whole new level, inspiring new horizons that surprise students.

Qian Dakang hopes to inspire everyone to explore, create, collaborate and learn with imagination anytime, anywhere without any restrictions.
