It seems that the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Riyad al-Maliki, was confused about matters during the Arab League’s ministerial council meeting, which was held yesterday, through “video conference” technology. He could not differentiate between being a foreign minister of Palestine and his country presiding over the council’s session at this meeting. What led to a "Byzantine" debate, the result of which was the Palestinian side ending the council’s work and canceling the Arab draft resolution on following up on political developments of the Palestinian cause!

Al-Maliki refused to read the draft resolution and delayed his rejection, until he ended the session, despite the fact that the draft resolution was balanced, and all its provisions were in the interest of the Palestinian cause, such as confirming the Arab consensus that the Palestinian issue is the central issue for the entire Arab nation, and confirming that the way The only one to achieve comprehensive peace in the Middle East is the two-state solution on the 67 borders, affirming the right of the State of Palestine to sovereignty over its capital, East Jerusalem, and its sanctities, and rejecting the US "deal of the century" and the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and transfer the embassy to it!

Despite all this, the Palestinian minister took advantage of his presence as the head of the ministerial meeting, and insisted on not reading the draft resolution, but rather canceling it and ending the meeting, contrary to all traditions recognized in ministerial councils meetings of the Arab League, because he simply wanted to direct the decision to the outdated and rejected language of denunciation and condemnation. Which are outdated by time, place and date!

In his speech, as President of the current session, Al-Maliki presented the UAE’s position in a negative way, and this is regrettable. The UAE made a sincere and strategic decision, as an independent country, to sign a peace treaty with Israel, and the agreement includes, among other things, Israeli approval and a guarantee of The United States of America freezes the annexation of the Palestinian territories, and this is an important achievement and a step towards peace.

Also, the UAE is a country that can differentiate between political positions and international relations, and the signing of the peace treaty with Israel does not mean at all a breach of the principles and constants towards the Palestinian cause, which is considered a fixed and firm approach in the state’s policy, and in this context the UAE affirms, always and forever, its continuous position in Supporting the Palestinian right and working for peace in the region, and the UAE is always committed to supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of 67, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the peace treaty with Israel will not change these principles that the UAE believes in, rather it has created a momentum that was not present before To work towards a two-state solution.

Establishing cooperative relations, based on mutual respect and serious cooperation in medical, scientific, technological and commercial fields with Israel, is totally unrelated to the UAE's steadfast political stance towards the Palestinian cause, so what is bothering them in this matter ?!

And before they get upset, they should know that the decision to establish relations with the countries of the world is at the core of the sovereignty of states, and every state has the right to initiate this, according to its strategic interests and its vision for the future, and this is guaranteed by international laws and norms, and confirmed by the Charter of the Arab League!
