  According to police figures, 6,414 online crimes were recorded in the first half of this year, an increase of 3326 cases over the same period last year, an increase of 107.07%.

  Superintendent Zhang Tianle of the Cybersecurity Section of the Police Cybercrime Division said that online shopping scams, naked chat scams, and online love scams have increased sharply compared with the same period last year.

Among them, online shopping scams increased nearly three times, mainly due to mask scams, involving an amount of 70 million Hong Kong dollars.

  The Hong Kong police, the Hong Kong Consumer Council and online payment platforms have urged citizens to pay attention to transaction records and details in online purchases, and to verify the identity of the seller to prevent fraudsters from taking advantage of it.
