Seventeen patients from a care service at the Jacques Coeur Hospital Center (CH) in Bourges have tested positive for coronavirus, the hospital announced on Tuesday.

The hospital triggered "the massive screening of all patients hospitalized in this unit" after the identification, Saturday, of seventeen cases in the department of follow-up care and rehabilitation (SRH).

"Break the chains of contamination"

"All patients diagnosed positive were thus transferred to the infectious diseases unit and benefit from specialized monitoring by the infectious disease team," the hospital said in a press release.

The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Center-Val-de-Loire says it is monitoring the situation "closely".

"We make sure in particular that everything is done within the establishment to break the chains of contamination," said the regional health agency.

A "cluster" is defined by the occurrence of at least three confirmed or probable cases in a period of 7 days, which belong to the same community or have participated in the same gathering.
