Uneasiness and incomprehension

"Bolstered by this almost unanimous support, the elected representatives of the SDR and the union representatives are now asking to be received jointly by the president of the Lagardère News division, Constance Benqué, and the director of information for Europe 1 , Donat Vidal Revel.

During the GA, many employees expressed their unease and their incomprehension at this appointment, including loud voices from the station, said one of the people present to AFP.

Friday, Louis de Raguenel announced on Twitter that he was leaving the editor-in-chief of

Valeurs Actuelles

, while assuring that this decision was not linked to "the recent publication in the weekly drawing" representing the LFI deputy Danièle Obono as a slave, who had outraged the political class.

Then in the evening, his appointment at the head of the political service of Europe 1 was announced internally to the heads of service, causing strong reactions on the part of the SDR of Europe 1 but also of the National Union of Journalists (SNJ ).

In an internal email, Donat Vidal Revel asked the editorial staff not to blame the newcomer, praising his qualities as journalists and his sources.

"It's not a person's problem"

“It's not a person's problem, what disturbs is that it is politically marked.

A year and a half before the presidential election, when we have gone to so much trouble to straighten out the station and its damaged image… With the Obono affair, the timing is disastrous, ”laments a journalist, who fears for the Europe's credibility 1.

Defending themselves from being "censors", the journalists stressed that they were not opposed to the arrival of Louis de Raguenel, "who could have his place as a columnist, columnist or in the context of a debate" , but on his appointment to the head of the political service.

The SDR accuses him in particular of having, as a former UMP activist, been responsible for the communication of the former minister Claude Guéant, place Beauvau in 2011-12 and of having "been pinned for having revealed the sources of the journalists of Le Monde Gérard Davet and Fabrice Lhomme in 2014 ”.
