Carl-Henning Wijkmark was born in 1934 in Stockholm and made his fictional debut in 1972 with the novel Jägarna på Karinhall, a novel that takes place at Herman Göring's country estate.
He has attracted attention both internationally and in Sweden.
In 2007, he received the August Prize for the novel Stunning Night.
