[Explanation] After 3 years of inspection and production, an ancient chariot more than 2,000 years ago appeared in front of people.

And the one who restored this ancient chariot was an old man named Fu Ping.

He took the No. 4 car unearthed from the Ma Keng No. 2 car at Ma'an Tomb in Huaiyang, Henan Province as a prototype, and used a 1:1 method to fully present it.

Fu Ping, 68 years old, lives in Beidu Village, Konggang New City, Xixian New District, Shaanxi, and is the fifth-generation heir of the "Li Yicheng" Wooden Art Workshop.

When he was 15 years old, he followed his father to learn the craft of making wooden carts and made a living from it.

But with the popularization of mechanization, wooden wheel carts gradually withdrew from the stage of history, and then Fu Ping began to engage in the construction industry.

Since it is always difficult to give up traditional handicrafts, in 2014, Fu Ping reopened the "Li Yicheng" Wooden Art Workshop, which had been silent for many years, and made two wooden carts.

In 2015, Fu Ping's craftsmanship of making wooden carts was named "Shaanxi Province Intangible Cultural Heritage".

At the end of 2016, Fu Ping and his nephew Li Furong went to the "Chinese Ancient Car Museum" in Linzi, Shandong for an inspection.

After returning from Shandong, they decided to restore an ancient chariot and make a prototype based on the chariot unearthed from the saddle mound in Huaiyang, Henan.

  [Concurrent] Carpenter Fu Ping

This time we restore this chariot, using the traditional craftsmanship of the carpenter.

In other words, it is called the mortise and tenon structure, which is based on the mortise and tenon structure. Our mortises are all hammered, not like the mahogany furniture that uses glue. The glue is used on the hub and spokes of the car. Glue can not be used in combination, glue can not be used in other places, we can not use wedges, and nails can not be used in this wood bonding stage. Of course, we will have bronze ornaments in the later stage, which have become decorations.

[Explanation] This ancient chariot restored by Fu Ping uses a wooden mortise and tenon structure. The width of the carriage is 1.6 meters, the length of the axle is 3.2 meters, and the length of the carriage is 3.4 meters.

In the process of recovery, we are also constantly facing challenges.

Fu Ping said that the diameter of the hub of the wooden wheel cart made before was 32 cm, and the wheel had 18 spokes. The restored ancient chariot now has 24 spokes, and the diameter of the hub is very small. This wheel hub cost nearly 60 workers.

At present, the overall appearance of this car has been completed, and the bronze decoration on the car will be restored.

[Concurrent] Fu Ping's nephew Li Furong

When I was about to build this car, I suddenly discovered that there was a big gap between the drawing and a photo, which might be quite different from the things on this car, because some technical problems could not be overcome, including this, especially the hub and the car. There is a problem with the coordination of the spokes. After we finished, we checked a lot of materials. If you buy books back and forth, you may read about more than 10 materials.

[Commentary] Li Furong said that the chariot restoration project has just started and will continue. After the restoration of this chariot, the two-wheeled cars of the Han Dynasty and some representative classic cars from the pre-Qin era will be restored.

At the same time, military armors, cold weapons and other related objects were restored.
