On September 7th, at the Great Lecture Hall of the Beijing International Book Festival, when asked about the “morning run” and “night run” phenomenon in the Forbidden City, which has attracted much attention in recent years, Shan Jixiang, a cultural scholar and former director of the Palace Museum, said, The Forbidden City did have several "Forbidden City Run" incidents due to several popular exhibitions, and even held a special sports meeting for this purpose, but it was quickly stopped.

In recent years, many photography enthusiasts have rushed into the Forbidden City in order to take pictures of the unmanned Forbidden City.

Shan Jixiang said that spectators are not encouraged to run in the Forbidden City. Because there are many spectators in the Forbidden City, running is likely to cause safety hazards. It is recommended to walk slowly to exercise and watch.
