Little frequented by humans, the Carnet site has only hosted a prototype wind turbine since 2012. It will soon be dismantled.

Large maritime port Nantes-Saint-Nazaire

  • The Nantes Saint-Nazaire large seaport plans to expand by developing a logistics base on the natural site of Le Carnet.

  • The president of the Loire-Atlantique departmental council, favorable to this project, judges it however “not precise enough”.

It is a project that has been talked about a lot in recent days.

And especially since a new ZAD has been installed on the spot to prevent its smooth running.

The Nantes Saint-Nazaire Grand Maritime Port project, which notably plans to set up a logistics base on the natural site of Le Carnet (Loire-Atlantique) and to set up businesses there in the field of “eco-technologies”, does not convince not completely the political class either.

This Monday, the president of the departmental council (PS) Philippe Grosvalet asked for “additional insights”.

"It is a project which seems virtuous to me, which will participate in the development of the port and in the economic rebalancing of the north and south Loire," he believes.

Artificialize this space for this development, I say ok, except that we need a long-term vision.

Apart from the strategic plan, things are not precise enough.

For example, I want the guarantee that this site is exclusively dedicated to renewable energies.

"There is no need to carry out this work"

At the end of last week, EELV and its elected officials stepped up to the plate asking the port to “stop its expansion project”.

“The Carnet project is an example of what not to do.

Under the guise of installing eco-technological companies, for which no concrete project exists to date - despite research by GPM in this direction for 3 years - the Grand Port Maritime is preparing to backfill and concrete 110 hectares of natural areas, some of which are wetlands and submersibles.

In the current context of climate crisis and the extinction of biodiversity, there is no need to carry out this work.

», Indicates the press release.

Guest of France Bleu Loire Océan this Monday morning, the president of the Pays-de-la-Loire region Christelle Morancais, who defends the project, promised "pedagogy".

"We cannot tolerate a new lawless zone settling in the region," she warned, however.
