Alain Cocq, who suffers from an incurable disease and interrupted all treatment and food on Friday evening, is experiencing significant dehydration, his representative told AFP on Monday.

"He vomited all day yesterday (Sunday) (...) He alternates the phases of consciousness and unconsciousness", reported Sophie Medjeberg, vice-president of the association Handi-Mais-Pas-Que, designated by Alain Cocq to make the link with the media.

Failing to have obtained from President Emmanuel Macron an injection of barbiturates "on a compassionate basis" to shorten his suffering, the Dijonnais decided to let himself die.

He wanted to broadcast his agony live on Facebook in an attempt to change end-of-life legislation, but the social network blocked the video on Saturday morning.

No pronoctic vital committed "in the short term"

Sophie Medjeberg told AFP that Alain Cocq had said despite everything "serene" Sunday during their last telephone exchange.

" I count on you;

the fight must not stop ”, he urged.

In "terminal phase for 34 years", as he claims, Alain Cocq suffers from a rare and very painful genetic disease which blocks his arteries.

He wishes to die with dignity but the Claeys-Léonetti law on the end of life, adopted in 2016, only authorizes deep sedation for people whose vital prognosis is “in the short term”.

What Alain Cocq cannot prove.

Bedridden in his home in Dijon, the patient is surrounded by four carers, as well as members of his family including his sister and very close friends.

“It's really painful for everyone, horrible and a shame to come to this.

We are paying a heavy price for our cause, ”insisted Sophie Medjeberg.

"We need an amendment to the Leonetti law in the name of Alain at the end of the fight that he transmitted to me", she concluded.
