A violent assault.

A man armed with a knife seriously injured a person before fleeing this Sunday around 5 p.m. at the Gare du Nord in Paris, AFP learned from the Paris police headquarters.

The victim was transported to a hospital, added the prefecture, without giving more information on his state of health.

His "vital prognosis is engaged," said the firefighters.

The investigation was entrusted to the Parisian judicial police.
