The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, alerted on Saturday to the evolution of the health situation and in particular to the increase in the number of patients admitted to intensive care.

“It is obvious that in the next 15 days there will be an increase in the number of serious cases,” he said on BFM TV.

The evolution of the health situation should alert us, warns the Minister of Health.

Olivier Véran relies on one figure: an average of 55 people are admitted to intensive care each day.

They were only twenty at the beginning of August.

A situation which could even worsen, explained the minister, invited Saturday of BFM TV.

"It is evident that in the next 15 days there will be an increase in the number of severe cases and intensive care admissions."

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Saturday, September 5

"The hypothesis of a breaking wave seems unlikely"

To justify his forecasts, the Minister relies on a fairly simple explanation.

With the return from vacation, the return to work and the resumption of work, social interactions are necessarily more numerous, hence this take-off.

A thrill that Bruno Megarbane is already seeing in his intensive care unit at Lariboisière hospital in Paris.

"We currently have four patients, so the trend is increasing. However, the number of patients present in intensive care is still relatively low. The forms are a little less serious than what was previously known. a breaking wave seems unlikely. "
