The music festival This is Alby is run, with the help of mentors, by young people from Botkyrka who are interested in the music industry.
The purpose is to strengthen young adults in the area who want to apply for such professions, but also to contribute to the Swedish music industry becoming more inclusive and representative.
This year, big names like Cherrie, Jireel, Imenella and Linda Pira are participating, but also new shooting stars like Haval, L1na and Jelassi.
The 12-year-old's friend appears
This year, the organizers have chosen to dedicate the entire festival to the people who have fallen victim to street violence.
- It's like our friends, our children and our families who die.
We can not solve this issue ourselves, it is a national crisis, says project manager Hendelis Elias to Kulturnyheterna.
Among those performing is 14-year-old Lilly L who performs the song Mardrömsminuten.
The song is written in memory of 12-year-old friend Adriana who was shot to death in Norsborg in early August.
No audience this year
Due to the corona pandemic, however, the artists will not play in front of an audience, but the entire festival will be shown online on Saturday 5 September at 20:00.
- We feel very safe and happy about this year's lineup.
Because there are very good people who have to do with this issue, who come from places we come from and who support this youth festival, says Hendelis Elias.
