Varan-tv will return after their kickstarter campaign has ended - with flying colors.

The goal of the fundraiser was to collect at least SEK 300,000, and in just a few hours the figure had ticked up to over one million kronor, which according to the campaign means that there will be at least one new full-length episode of the cult series.

- It feels fantastically fun and scary in a wonderful way at the same time, says Varanteater member David Wiberg to TT.

"Bigger 'impact' than we thought"

The reason why the group started thinking about a comeback was everyone who over the years has told them what the series has meant to them.

- Even though some thought it sucked, many have had great pleasure from us, and we have probably had a greater "impact" than we thought.

For their sake, we felt that we must try to throw out the question, and now we have received an answer to it, says David Wiberg to TT.

Varan-tv was broadcast for two seasons on SVT in 1997 and 1998. The episodes were a mixture of live sketches and pre-recorded elements and were described by Varanteatern themselves as "a crazy peep show with more than 400 kg on stage".
