An indigenous case of dengue, linked to the tiger mosquito, was diagnosed in Nice.

If the affected person is cured, a "control analysis is underway by the National Arbovirus Center", informs the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

This is the only indigenous case of dengue "identified in the region", underlines the ARS in its press release on Friday.

"We speak of an indigenous case when a person has contracted the disease on national territory and has not traveled to a contaminated area in the 15 days preceding the onset of symptoms," explains the agency.

To prevent the spread of the disease "which is transmitted from person to person through the bite of a mosquito infected with the dengue virus", the area of ​​the affected person has been removed. "Vigilance is now on. increased on possible contamination The teams of ARS and Public Health France and the Communal Hygiene and Health Service of Nice are currently investigating the neighborhood of the case.

All people who present or have had symptoms of the disease (high fever of sudden onset, muscle or joint pain, eye pain, fatigue, headaches), "in the previous days are invited to report so that they can be referred to a biological diagnostic analysis ”, underlines the ARS.
