Learn about the main factor in the development of diabetes

Some scientists from the British University of Cambridge and Milan, Italy, have proven that excess weight is the main factor in the development of diabetes, and that weight reduction prevents the development of the disease and even overcome it.

After a study and analysis conducted on 445,765 people from the British Biobank, the researchers found, with an average age of 57.2 years, that those with a high BMI were 11 times more likely to develop diabetes, compared to those with a low BMI.

The researchers divided this number into five groups based on a genetic predisposition to diabetes, and into five groups based on body mass index.

The researchers continued to follow the health status of the subjects of this study until their average age was 65.2 years.

And it became clear to them that during this period 31,298 of them developed type 2 diabetes.

The researchers suggest, this means that body weight is a stronger factor in the development of diabetes than a genetic predisposition.

According to the researchers, most cases of type 2 diabetes can be avoided by keeping the BMI below the permissible upper limits.

For this, body weight, height and blood sugar level should be monitored periodically.

Diabetes can also be eliminated in its early stages by reducing weight.
