Hiroshima: Reinvestigating the strength of the bombed building “Former Army Clothing Branch” September 4, 6:43

Regarding the largest bomb-exposed building in Hiroshima City, the "old Army clothing arsenal," which is being studied for preservation, Hiroshima Prefecture has decided to include a cost for investigating the strength of the building in the September supplementary budget for this year. It was.

If this survey reveals that the strength is stronger than expected, the cost of storage is expected to be kept low, and it is likely that this will have a major impact on the decision whether to store or dismantle.

Regarding the oldest army clothing arsenal, one of the largest bombed buildings in Hiroshima City, in December last year, we proposed the policy of preserving the appearance of one of the three buildings owned by Hiroshima Prefecture and dismantling and removing the two. However, in response to the widespread voice of opposition, we forgot to start the business from this year.

Against this backdrop, Hiroshima Prefecture has decided to make a policy of investigating the strength of the building again, and will include the cost in the September supplementary budget for this year and submit it to the prefectural assembly.

According to the people involved, it was pointed out that the clothing arsenal had a high risk of collapsing due to an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 6 or higher, but when the outer wall of the building was examined, the strength exceeded that previously assumed and a new survey was conducted. There is a need to do that.

If this survey reveals that the strength is stronger than expected, the cost of storage is expected to be kept low, and it is likely that this will have a major impact on the decision whether to store or dismantle.
