Didier Raoult microbiologist medicine is attacked by his colleagues for non-compliance with the code of ethics.

This still risks fueling the heated debate around the media professor Didier Raoult.

A complaint before the Order of Physicians was filed in July against the director of the Marseille University Hospital Institute (IHU), reveals Le Figaro.

Who attacks the famous specialist in infectious diseases, known for his media outlets and rants?

The French-speaking Society of Infectious Pathology (Spilf), with the Departmental Council of the Order of Physicians of Bouches-du-Rhône.

reminds us that sanctions can range from a simple warning to permanent delisting ... but that in nearly 60% of cases, complaints lead to no consequences.

Lack of ethics and confraternity

Why such an approach ?

The colleagues of Professor Raoult believe that the latter would have violated no less than nine articles of the code of medical ethics.

In particular by promoting a "miracle cure" which had not been proven.

Indeed, the latest meta-analysis, more robust scientific evidence, concludes that hydroxychloroquine is ineffective against Covid-19 ... and an increase in mortality when hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin are taken together.

But Didier Raoult continues to assert that in his patients, this treatment works.

Other complaints: lack of confraternity (the microbiologist strongly attacked his colleagues who did not take the same path as him), clinical trials not respecting the adequate protocol, dissemination of false information to the general public ... Le Splif recalls that physicians are required to exercise caution when providing data.

Even if the last interviews and speeches, Professor Raoult seems to be showing more nuance and caution, in particular on the impossibility for everyone to foresee the continuation of the coronavirus, his colleagues do not seem to have appreciated the muscular exchanges and affirmations peremptory of the last few months.

Case to be continued.
