According to the Hokkaido Purse Seine Fisheries Association, the amount of sardines landed at this time was approximately 83,400 tons by the end of last month, which is more than 50,000 tons compared to the same period last year when it was a good harvest of over 200,000 tons for the first time in 28 years. The captain of a fishing boat in Ibaraki Prefecture said, "The characteristic feature of the sardine off the eastern part of Hokkaido is that it has a small amount of fat. The season is still long, so I would like to expect it in the future."
