The statues of the Grévin museum have been deconfined since June 18, but visits have been rare this summer.

Three new wax figures will be inaugurated at the start of the school year and the museum intends to bring back visitors, as explained by Yves Delhommeau, general manager of the place, in La France bouge, on Europe 1.

INTERVIEW

With foreign tourists absent and mandatory barrier measures, times are (also) tough for museums.

According to figures from the Regional Tourism Committee, visits have decreased by 70% to Versailles, 60% to the Louvre and 50% to the Grévin museum.

The director general of the latter, Yves Delhommeau, was at the microphone of Elisabeth Assayag and Emmanuel Duteil, in La France bouge, to talk about the new features of the museum.

Three new statues will be inaugurated "in October", confirms Yves Delhommeau, "Muriel Robin and Pierre Palmade, and Cyril Lignac, whom we have seen a lot during this period of confinement".

Good news for relaunching the activity of the museum which remained closed from March 15 to June 18 because of the Covid-19 health crisis.

The preparation of two other statues was compromised by the confinement: a new arrival, Antoine Griezmann and a statue which must be a little more aged, that of Zinedine Zidane.

"We had already met Antoine Griezmann in Barcelona, we had started to make his sculpture, we were stopped dead. For Zinedine Zidane, we had an appointment with him at Real Madrid, they were confined ten minutes before we could get into the club, we had to turn around and go back to France, ”he explains.

Strict health measures

New statues, of course, but with a virus still present, barrier gestures remain mandatory.

Yves Delhommeau puts forward a "more pleasant quality of visit", because the museum must "regulate the flow".

Some stars have even been moved to the museum, such as footballer Kylian Mbappé, "to be sure that we can take pictures with them," he explains.

Activities are also canceled, such as the Mirage Palace show, which was held in a closed location, and the VoiceRoom karaoke space, in the area of

And although the mask is mandatory throughout the museum, the CEO jokes: "This is where you can see all the celebrities without masks."
