A deep-sea tuna fishing boat newly built in Iwate Prefecture for the first time in three years has left Miyako City for fishing in the North Pacific Ocean.

The newly built pelagic tuna fishing boat "Daiichi Katsumaru" has a total tonnage of 459 tons, a length of more than 57 meters, and can store 300 tons.

One of the 15 pelagic tuna fishing boats in Iwate prefecture was deteriorated, so a fishing company in Miyako City fell in July for the first time in three years in the prefecture and the first in eight years in the Miyako area. It was done.

On May 1, Masanori Yamamoto, the Mayor of Miyako Port, encouraged us to pray for safe voyages and big catches before leaving the port.

Then, while being watched by the crew members' families, etc., they left the port at 11:00 am with a whistle.

The new deep-sea tuna fishing boat will fish for half a year at the North Pacific fishing ground, which is about 1,000 kilometers east of Miyako Port, and will land at Misaki Port in Kanagawa Prefecture in late February next year.

A six-year-old boy who came to see off the crew's 66-year-old grandfather from Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture with eight families said, "I'm lonely to leave Grandpa. I want you to take a lot of tuna while being careful. I was talking."

Fisherman Kazuyuki Yamauchi, a fisherman, said, "I feel happy and pressured to take care of a fine boat. I will aim for major fishing with the safety of the crew first."
