Sleepy elevator

Not long after the elevator was installed, frequent failures left hidden dangers

It is understood that the elevator involved is a household elevator produced by Kunshan Juli Elevator Company. Mr. Gu spent more than 140,000 yuan in November 2019 to purchase and install it through a dealer in Tongzhou District.

According to the materials provided by the elevator dealer, the Yangtze Evening News Ziniu News reporter learned that the inverter control system of this elevator was found to be an old system when it was first installed and tested, and there were many problems after use. Juli appointed third-party debugging experts and The dealer installer came to replace the system. After the replacement and commissioning, the representative of Juli Company believed that the elevator reached the conditions for operation and delivery.

But in the next few months, there were more than a dozen problems with the control system of this elevator. Either the elevator door could not close, or it could not be opened.

On July 13 this year, the technical department of Juli Elevator Company sent the second elevator inverter to Mr. Gu’s home for installation and commissioning. The dealer maintenance personnel of Juli Company came to replace it. After testing by the dealer and the owner, the elevator was jittered during operation, but it still did not reach the normal operating conditions. On July 14, the technical department of Juli Elevator Company took the third The inverter of the elevator was replaced and debugged at the door. After repeated debugging, it was deemed that the elevator was up to the standard and the owner was notified.

Unexpectedly, an elevator trapping incident occurred on July 16.

Juli Elevator admits that the frequency conversion system problem caused the accident

After the incident, professional maintenance personnel investigated after rescue and believed that the accident was still caused by a malfunction of the elevator frequency conversion.

The Ziniu News reporter of the Yangtze Evening News learned from the Nantong Branch of Jiangsu Special Equipment Safety Supervision and Inspection Research Institute that, unlike elevators in public places, home elevators are not within the scope of legal testing, and the elevator manufacturers are responsible for testing and maintenance. The frequency conversion control system is equivalent to the "center" of the elevator, once a problem occurs, it will directly affect the elevator safety.

Yu Xiaoli, deputy general manager of the in-use elevator business department of Juli Company, said that when Ms. Wu was trapped in the accident, the elevator was still in the debugging stage, and the manufacturer did not send technicians to carry out the “factory inspection”. The on-site service was dealer maintenance personnel. Finally, how to adjust the test and put it into operation is not clear.

Regarding Mr. Gu’s elevator trapping incident, Yu Xiaoli admitted that it was indeed caused by a malfunction of the elevator's frequency conversion control system, but she also stated that it was an emergency brake of the elevator, and the purpose was to protect the people in the elevator. As for why the elevator is not equipped with an emergency device, Yu Xiaoli said that the elevator originally had an emergency device, and the installer in charge has not been able to connect the emergency device to the Internet in the owner's home.

Ms. Wu treated in the hospital

After many negotiations, the manufacturer let the owner go through legal channels

It is understood that after the incident, Juli Elevator Company sent three people to Nantong to visit Ms. Wu and negotiate related compensation matters. However, because the hospital needed nucleic acid testing, the group did not see the trapped Ms. Wu; they brought 25,000. Yuan condolences will be paid to the distributor for medical expenses. Mr. Gu said that his mother had spent more than 70,000 yuan in medical expenses before and after hospitalization.

Mr. Gu believes that the manufacturer is not sincere, and the two parties have negotiated many times. Apart from the "consolation fee", Juli is unwilling to bear the responsibility and hopes to "apply to legal channels."

Mr. Gu once approached the market supervision department of Xinkai Street, Nantong Development Zone, where the elevator sales company is located, and hoped that the local consumer association would organize a tripartite negotiation, but the elevator company said there was no time to participate in the negotiation.

Bao Guoqing, director of the board of directors of Juli Elevator Company, told the Ziniu News reporter of the Yangtze Evening News that Mr. Gu can resolve the dispute through legal channels. He said that the company's elevator products have purchased product liability insurance, and buyers can obtain corresponding compensation through insurance companies.

Mr. Gu said that the mother’s medical expenses, nursing expenses, lost work expenses, and mental losses can be borne by himself. However, the cost of removing the elevator and the refund of the cost of purchasing the elevator should be borne by Juli. Regarding insurance claims, he believes that the product liability insurance should be supported by Juli. In his view, Juli’s “ignorant and passive attitude” made it difficult for him to accept.
