Following the news that Chadwick Boseman has passed away after a period of illness, the tributes have flowed into social media. Among those mourning the star are, in addition to fans and friends, several celebrities, actors, politicians and human rights activists. 

World artist Beyoncé is one of them. She has posted a picture of Chadwick Boseman on her website with the text "Rest carefully, King". On Twitter, artist John Legend writes that he is shocked. 

"He brought elegance and power to everything he did."

Actor and Marvel colleague Mark Ruffalo also expresses his grief on Twitter. 

“What a man, and what an enormous talent. My brother, you were one of the greatest and your heyday had just begun. The Lord loves you ”.

Praise by politicians and activists

The Democrats' candidate for vice president, Kamala Harris, writes on Twitter that her heart is broken. 

"He left us too soon but his life made a difference."

Presidential candidate Joe Biden has also expressed his condolences in a statement. 

Human rights activist Martin Luther King's son, Martin Luther King III, writes that Boseman gave life to history when he played icons such as baseball star Jackie Robinson and soul legend James Brown on the white canvas.  

"Like the Black Panther, he was a superhero for many."

Other celebrities who have offered condolences on social media are Kim Kardashian West, The Weeknd, Whoopi Goldberg, Rita Ora, Drake, Chris Brown and Oprah Winfrey. 

Chadwick Boseman got his big break with the hit film "Black Panther", one of the first superhero films with a black person in the lead roles. The film grossed $ 1.3 billion. He died at the age of 43, after being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016.
