[INFO RFI] Ivory Coast: FIFA calls for the end of the electoral process to the FIF

New rebound in the race for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF). After the ouster of Didier Drogba on Thursday August 27, the International Football Federation (FIFA) requests, according to our information, the immediate end of the electoral process until further notice.

According to our information, FIFA asks the FIF to immediately suspend the electoral process for the election of the new president scheduled for September 5, until further notice. FIFA would point the finger at the deleterious climate of the last assembly of the Electoral Commission which did not have the opportunity to resume work in peace. It ended with the resignation of the President of the Commission, the former Minister of Sports René Diby.

FIFA wants to get an overview of the electoral process

In addition, FIFA asks the FIF to send it by this Friday, August 28, several documents, including the list of members of the Electoral Commission or a certain number of minutes. FIFA now wants to get an overview of the electoral process in order to ensure a smooth run for the upcoming election applicable to all member associations. FIFA had already last week overturned a decision by the FIF that suspended the Electoral Commission.

Thursday August 27, the Electoral Commission rejected the candidacy of Didier Drogba . Drogba's file does present three clubs including the famous Africa Sport, but this support has not been validated because it was given by its vice-president and not the president who offered his support to the president of the League Sory Diabaté (who received the support of 6 D1 clubs).

The same goes for the interest groups. Each candidate had to obtain the sponsorship of at least one of the 5 groups. Didier Drogaba's file mentions the support of the Association of Arbitrators (AMAF) but here again "  the sponsorship  " was the work of a person "  who does not have the capacity to legally commit the AMAF  ", according to the Election Commission.

Yacine Idriss Diallo, former third vice-president of the FIF and the current vice-president of the Federation and president of the League Sory Diabaté saw their candidatures accepted to succeed Augustin Sidy Diallo. Didier Drogba has "  a period of five days  " to seize the appeal committee. The candidacy of Paul Koffi Kouadio was also invalidated.

On the day of Drogba's ouster, Eugène Diomandé, campaign manager of the former Chelsea player, indicated on RFI in the Radio Foot Internationale program that Didier Drogba was going to "  appeal to FIFA  " but would not appeal. as provided for in the electoral code.

“  This camarilla who made the decision does not represent the Independent Electoral Commission. They are friends gathered around tea. The president appointed by the ordinary general meeting remains René Diby. To appeal today would be to recognize the authority of res judicata. We are going to seize FIFA, relying on the fact that many recommendations contained in FIFA's letter have not been respected,  ”Eugène Diomandé indicated on our channels.

Popular figure in the Ivory Coast, Didier Drogba , who for a long time carried the Ivorian selection on his shoulders, received the support of many former partners, the brothers Yaya and Kolo Touré, Aruna Dindane, as well as many personalities.
