The Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai organized a plastic symposium entitled: “Experiences of Special Galleries”, in which a group of artists and artistic experts participated, including Ibrahim Picasso (Egypt), Matar Bin Lahej and Jalal Luqman (Emirates), and Ihssan Al-Khatib (Iraq), in the presence of Dr. . Najat Makki, the Algerian artist Al-Taher Wan, the artist Khalil Abdel Wahid, and Dr. Irfan An-Naim, and a group of professionals and interested parties.

The poet Khaled Al-Badour presented the session to the session, who indicated that art galleries play a pivotal role in the cultural and artistic arena, as they are different specialties and vary between a commercial center, a cultural center, and an artistic professional.

Ibrahim Picasso, owner and founder of the Picasso Gallery in Cairo since 1996, indicated that his beginning was in a factory for making art frames, and through artist relations he developed his works and founded the gallery, as it was the first plastic exhibition with more than 55 artists who influenced the artistic movement in Cairo. And the Middle East, during the period of the late plastic artist Hussein Al-Jabali.

Picasso emphasized that plastic art formed his personal obsession, as he was able to present a large number of exhibitions by pioneer and young artists, due to his desire for the gallery to be a cultural and artistic center, enriching the plastic scene, and contributing to the promotion of artistic works of creative people.

For his part, Matar Bin Lahej said that the year 2005 represented a strong move for him, as he had an integrated program to develop the creativity of the child and highlight his talents, and he had a number of plastic artists, and then he turned to “Matar Bin Lahej Gallery” integrated with the “Coffee Shop” Keeping pace with developments, and there was a great demand from pioneers and fans of plastic art. What made it possible to display his collections better, and facilitated the acquisition of his works, and this move was an important step towards the delivery of plastic art everywhere.

While Ihsan Al-Khatib, an Iraqi artist residing in the Emirates, emphasized that the gallery was an outlet for artists, and interested people, tourists and artists flocked to it, and a large number of plastic artists contributed to pushing the gallery's work to the fore, as it attracted many Arab collectors.

He pointed out that, due to the current circumstances due to the Corona pandemic, he developed the gallery electronically, and designated an artistic channel for the gallery, to display the various artworks and introduce the plastic movement and its symbols.

Emirati artist Jalal Luqman said that it was difficult for artists to display their works due to the limited number of galleries, especially in Abu Dhabi, so he decided in 2006 to establish the first gallery in Abu Dhabi (Al Ghaf Gallery), giving the opportunity for Emirati artists and residents to display their works without hindrance.

He emphasized that the gallery was in line with the general policy of transforming Abu Dhabi into an artistic and cultural capital on a global level, at a time when the development of Saadiyat Island itself, the building of the Louvre and the renaissance of culture in the emirate, and the galleries exhibitions witnessed a great diversity and artistic presence.

The participants discussed the difficulties of working at the beginning, especially if the goal is technical and non-profit, the double effort of the owner of the gallery to highlight his exhibits, the financial burdens on the owner of the gallery if he wishes to raise the level of his holdings, and provide decent services to pioneering artists and young generations, and the different Arab plastic climate from him in the West. .
